For students who first enrolled in four-year institutions, the National Student Clearinghouse classifies students as degree-seeking unless they had only one enrollment record with intensity of less than half time. For students who started at two-year institutions, they were classified as degree-seeking if they had at least one full-time enrollment within a two-year time period, at least one three-quarter time enrollment within two and a half years, and at least two enrollment terms with half-time status within two and a half years.
